Take Action: Contact your Members of Congress

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, we witnessed unthinkable injustice and horror when 45 Palestinians sheltering in tents in Rafah were killed as the Israeli military launched missiles at their camp in the night. It is difficult to process the scale of devastation - most of the victims were women and children. The images of death will never leave us. This harrowing violence occurred after President Biden issued warnings against Israel’s Rafah offensive and the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to stop its Rafah assault immediately.

We must do all we can to try to save lives. We urge you to contact your members of Congress NOW and press them to call for a ceasefire and political solution that can help end the violence and pervading occupation. If your MOC has already called for a ceasefire, please send them a “thank you.”  To build power, let us encourage those supporting just peace.

Last Tuesday, as a vital step toward a needed political solution, Ireland, Norway, and Spain moved to recognize a Palestinian state. This weekend, Combatants for Peace held a solidarity demonstration in front of the Spanish embassy in Tel Aviv supporting this milestone. Amid great suffering, we are drawing strength from the growing international solidarity movement. This month, CfP received a message from Pope Francis. As you are a part of the movement, we extend these words of encouragement and blessing to you.

In this time filled with devastation and injustice, we draw strength and build power by taking collective action. Our united voice is powerful, as is your generosity, our shared values, relentless love, and willful faith that peace and justice are truly possible - that there is another way. With “wisdom, courage, and perseverance,” let us press onward together.
