Palestinian & Israeli Mothers Call for Peace & Liberation
This Sunday, May 12th, is the Joint Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day Ceremony. It falls on U.S. Mother’s Day which was founded by women after the Civil War to catalyze reconciliation among soldiers. In the late 19th century, it evolved into “Mother’s Peace Day,” a call to action that asked mothers to unite in promoting world peace. While studies show war disproportionately affects women, studies also show women’s participation in peace processes significantly improves outcomes. This Mother’s Day, in honor of all women, we listen to the voices of two CfP activists, mothers, and friends united beyond borders.
What will be the future of the next generations? Now more than ever, we need to forge another way.
